Wildflower meadow creation

We created a stunning wildflower meadow and small orchard in a private garden in Hertfordshire. The owners wanted a more natural outdoor space, where nature and nmatural processes can thrive.

We surveyed the ground and established that the rank grass area was species poor and could benefit from the introduction of Wildflower turf. We stripped back the vegetation, laid the turf and planted local veraities of fruit trees. The results are stunning. Making space for native species like this makes a massive difference to wildlife -especialy in a changing climate where we are now seeing much mre extreme weather. Our birds, insects and mammals need natural process and native species of plants from the soil up. Life depends on the leaves, roots, healtyhy soil as well as flowers.

We visted he project after it was established and it was literally alive with bees, tiny beetles and other scarce insects. Not only does this look natural and beautiful, it's like a nature bank - allowing life to thrive up close to us.
