A canal-side play trail with climbing branches and a buried oak water wheel that brings nature and history to life.

We designed a nature-inspired play area and seating space for Dacorum Borough Council near the Grand Union Canal, where children can climb, balance, jump, and crawl through a playful timber trail.

The trail section of the structure rises out of the ground in several places and continues until it joins a bespoke simulation of a buried water wheel made from oak timber. The water wheel doesn't move but makes a nice historic connection to the old mill. Leading from the wheel, the trail timber rises until it connects to a large vertical tree trunk that has a spiral of stepping branches around it.

This creates a challenging climb to the top and once at the top, children can see the whole structure which will look like alarge branch from the crown of a huge tree. The structure is accessible to all ages but will be particularlyappealing to younger children from the age of 3 onwards

Read what our past clients have to say about us

We are thrilled with the playground Wildwood UK designed for us here at Flag Fen. The elegant design fits in perfect harmony with our site, which is famous for its Bronze Age causeway.

We wanted a play area that would engage children and introduce them to the historical significance of our location. The design not only provides a fun and imaginative space for our little visitors but also serves as a subtle educational tool, interpreting the archaeology of the site in a way that is both engaging and meaningful.

We are over the moon with our Wildwood playground here at school; it totally compliments the woodland in our local area. A professional build from start to finish - thank you Lawrence and team!

Chorleywood Parish Council has three Wildwood Dens across Chorleywood Common. They are expertly crafted and are a fascinating feature in their own right.

The Dens are very well used and enjoyed by children of all ages encouraging them to participate in natural and creative play whilst developing their skills in climbing and balance.
