Pond dredging work to enhance biodiversity

The National Trust needed to remove some of the dense vegeation and silt from two very special and historically significant ponds. The ponds needed our careful approach to preserve the archaeological layers beneath the water and the form of the two ponds' outer perimeters. The ponds are also both significant wildlfife features and we worked with the NT staff and Bernwood Ecology who oversaw the machine dredging to ensure that disturbance to pondlife was kept to a minimum.

We removed around 60% of the closed in vegetation restoring some open water enabling more habitat for a range of species including newts, frogs and submerged oxygenating plants.

We are thrilled with the playground Wildwood UK designed for us here at Flag Fen. The elegant design fits in perfect harmony with our site, which is famous for its Bronze Age causeway.

We wanted a play area that would engage children and introduce them to the historical significance of our location. The design not only provides a fun and imaginative space for our little visitors but also serves as a subtle educational tool, interpreting the archaeology of the site in a way that is both engaging and meaningful.

We are over the moon with our Wildwood playground here at school; it totally compliments the woodland in our local area. A professional build from start to finish - thank you Lawrence and team!

Chorleywood Parish Council has three Wildwood Dens across Chorleywood Common. They are expertly crafted and are a fascinating feature in their own right.

The Dens are very well used and enjoyed by children of all ages encouraging them to participate in natural and creative play whilst developing their skills in climbing and balance.
