Kingswood Nursery
An exciting wild addition to the nursery school garden
The staff at Kingswood Nursery wanted to bring more natural play experiences to their outside space. We designed a living breathing play area that helps the very young children push the bounds and go wild clambering on natural wood. The play area was opened by the local MP and it has become a special addition to the outdoor space at the nursery. The children in this area have limited access to nature but now at school they have natural play and nature at their finger tips.
A stand out memory for us on this project was during the opening ceremony. We saw 3 children hiding in the den part of the play area with their backs against the wood. When we asked them what they were doing, they replied; "we're part of the trees".

We wanted a play area that would engage children and introduce them to the historical significance of our location. The design not only provides a fun and imaginative space for our little visitors but also serves as a subtle educational tool, interpreting the archaeology of the site in a way that is both engaging and meaningful.
